Project Overview and Map

Brazos Electric plans to upgrade approximately 10.5 miles of existing 69 kilovolt (kV) single-circuit transmission line to a 138 kV double-circuit line. As part of the project, a new switching station (Pursley Switch Station) will be built across the street from the existing Purdon Substation. The upgrade will extend from the Purdon Substation to the Emmett Substation, utilizing single-pole structures in Navarro County.

The Purdon to Emmett project is part of a voltage conversion initiative to upgrade the existing line from 69 kV to 138 kV. The project requires an additional 35 feet of right-of-way adjacent to the existing transmission line to maintain uninterrupted service during construction. If requested, Brazos Electric will relinquish 25 feet of right-of-way to the current owner of record on the adjacent side of the rebuilt line. Adjacent to the proposed Pursley Switch Station, Brazos Electric may require between 100 to 150 feet of new easement.

This project will enhance system capacity and improve service reliability for Brazos Electric Cooperative and its member-customers.
